The AutoVIN Self-inspection app captures the condition of your vehicle with photos and your assessment of any damages. It will take approximately 15-30 minutes to complete your self-inspection. If you elect this inspection option, please submit your self-inspection no more than 60 days before your return date.1

If your vehicle has an accident history or you prefer a professional in-person inspection by AutoVIN, please schedule your inspection online at the AutoVINLive website or contact us.

Here's what you need to do:

  1. Download the app - AutoVIN Self-inspection by KAR
  2. Scan or input your VIN
  3. Answer 3 questions
  4. Capture a minimum of 7 photos of your vehicle and indicate any damage or missing items — the app will guide you along the way
  5. Submit results
  6. Receive your condition report via email with any excess wear and use charges

We will complete an inspection after your vehicle has been returned. Your excess wear and use charges will be based on the lower amount assessed between the self-inspection report or the post turn-in inspection.2

Check out the Excess Wear and Use Guide for information on assessing any damages.

1 If your lease originated in NH/WI: The pre-inspection must be completed within 15 days prior to turn-in. Our inspection after the termination of the lease shall be conclusive unless you obtain a counter-inspection.

2 Chase will consider the results from the self-inspection; however, Chase maintains the exclusive right to utilize a post turn-in inspection in determining your excess wear and use charges. Please note that in certain instances, a self-inspection will not be available to the lessee (e.g. if the vehicle has been in an accident).
